Epidemiology in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
- Epilepsy occurs in 20% to 30% of children with intellectual/developmental disabilities11
- Up to 21% of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities have absence seizures12
- Seizures are more likely to be generalized in people with intellectual/developmental disabilities12
DEPAKOTE and DEPAKOTE ER are not indicated for treatment of children under the age of
ten years.
In elderly patients administered DEPAKOTE or DEPAKOTE ER, dosage should be increased more slowly and with regular monitoring for fluid and nutritional intake, dehydration, somnolence and other adverse events.
